Dr. Capitano offer's a variety of functional screening examinations in order to identify weakness, tightness, or biomechanical issues. Dr. Capitano subscribes to a movement-based approach popularized by the works of Dr. Vladmir Janda, Dr. Craig Liebenson, Dr. Stuart McGill, Dr. Charlie Weingroff and Gray Cook. He uses principles of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Functional Range Systems (FRS), Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) and sound evidence-based rehabilitation and training science.
Some of the paradigms Dr. Capitano is formally trained and/or certified in include DNS, ART, Graston, Acupuncture, Dry Needling, TPI, FRC, FRR, FMS/SFMA, RPR, and HKC. This ultimately allows him to identify problems with the athlete’s mechanics in order to assist with injury prevention.
Examinations are 1 hour in length. After the examination takes place, Dr. Capitano will provide the athlete with a summary of advice and exercises that will help them address the biomechanical issues at hand in order to apply preventative measures.
Dr. Capitano has worked with athletes, amateurs to professionals, and has been very successful with good results. The goal of the functional screen is to keep the athlete healthy and injury-free.
